New explosion-protected pressure transmitters by LABOM
6 March 2014
German-based manufacturers LABOM will present their intrinsically safe pressure transmitters PASCAL Ci4 for absolute pressure and PASCAL Ci4 Delta P for differential pressure at Hannover Messe from 7 to 11 April (hall 11, booth C31/3). The devices come with certificates of their explosion protection issued in compliance with both the ATEX standard, obligatory in Europe, and the IECEx standard used in North America as well as internationally. PASCAL Ci4 measures pressure in nominal ranges from 250 mbar to 400 bar with an accuracy of 0.1 % at a measuring rate of up to 100 Hz. It is available in different versions for various fields of application, including a hygienic design for the food and pharmaceutical industries. ATEX certificates II 1/2 G Ex ia IIC for temperature groups T4, T5, and T6, and II 1/2 D Ex ia IIIC testify to the high degree of intrinsic safety of the devices in explosive atmospheres with gas and dust. The SIL2-compliant design of the transmitters and their software also supports the suitability of PASCAL Ci4 devices for use in safety-critical environments.
PASCAL Ci4 and PASCAL Ci4 Delta P can be integrated into DTM/FDT-based systems, such as PactWare or FieldCare. Flexible integration into control systems based on the HART 7 protocol, as well as control via systems such as SIMATIC PDM or 375/475 Field Communicator, is also possible.
The complete display and control unit oft the pressure transmitters can be removed and mounted up to 10 metres away from the measuring point in a special housing. This ensures that, even in cases where the measuring unit is mounted in remote places that are difficult to access, the results are readable and the device can be controlled via the control unit, which remains attached to the actual pressure transmitter by cables.
A wide range of functionalities for parameterisation, simulation, and diagnosis enhance the convenience of the user. What is more, they contribute to an improved operating safety by preventing errors on the part of the user. The diagnostic functionalities also include a maintenance timer. After a freely definable number of days of being switched on, the timer will remind the user to check the device.
