Micronics Clamp-on heatmeters replace conventional heatmeters in Cheshire school

2 December 2019

An independent Building & Energy Management Systems (BEMS) control system specialist used 3 Micronics U1000 heat meters to replace conventional #heatmeters in Alsager School, Crewe. Steve Page, Managing Director of Cheshire-based Automated Systems Ltd had used Micronics heat meters for a previous installation at Chester University so had complete confidence that the U1000 would perform well and fit the requirements of the school. In particular, the fact that the U1000 is non-invasive was a key attribute in the decision to replace the conventional meters because the pipes did not need to be cut into during installation, very important in a school.

The U1000 is a “Best Value”, ultrasonic clamp-on thermal, heat/energy meter that uses ultrasound to measure flow rate and PT100 temperature sensors to measure flow and return temperatures. It displays energy rate and totalised energy with pulse output and communication options, so it can be used as a standalone meter or as an integral part of an aM&T or BEM’s system.
